1 Prepare a sketch with a pencil, and then outline it with a multiliner. Erase the pencil marks after you have finished outlining.

2 Start by painting in the area with watercolors. In this exercise, we are going for brown hair, so you’ll need to use yellow as the base color. Laying down watercolors now will give the markers a smoother and more covered area for blending later.

3 Now use a marker to add the color of hair you want, in this case, brown. Press strongly and release the pressure to create shiny areas by leaving some parts uncolored. You can see the direction of strokes in the example.
